CEF WSx is a 2U rack-installable military class industrial PC with a wide range of advanced reliability and usability features. CEF WSx comes supplied with two removable hard disk cradles for 3.5" IDE-drives. These, in conjunction with our patented hard disk suspension system and a RAID adapter, make CEF WSx extremely fault-tolerant. The processor cooling system uses heat exchangers, removing the need for a fault-prone processor fan. These leading-edge features make CEF WSx especially suitable for on-board vehicle use.

The aluminum chassis of CEF WSx gives IP54-class protection against water spill and dust. All the connectors, the power switch, the removable hard disks and other drives are safe behind the tight front mask of CEF WSx. Even the external cable connections at the back of the chassis fulfill IP54-class requirements.

Our patented hard disk suspension system, CEF Damper 28, has the lowest resonance frequency among the suspension systems currently available. Low resonance frequency in combination with a very wide active range enables the system to protect your hard disks against a variety of simultaneous shocks, bumps and vibrations. A hard disk with CEF Damper 28 can easily withstand shocks of over 100 G.

CEF WSx has an independent self-monitoring unit integrated into the power supply unit. The monitoring unit acts as an early warning system against hardware malfunction. The unit monitors the temperatures outside and inside the computer chassis, and thereby controls fans and heaters. It also monitors voltages inside the computer, ripple and g-forces caused by vibration, sounding an alarm when needed. Alarms can also be sent to remote locations if needed. The monitoring unit settings can be changed via a Windows based graphical UI or through the computer's serial port using a terminal emulation program like Hyperterminal.
