CEF 8xs/10xs is a military class TFT display from Control Express Finland Ltd. Compact
size, ruggedness and easy usability are its most prominent features. CEF 8xs/10xs is
dust-tight and resistant to water jets thanks to its full aluminium case that is made of a
single aluminium block by a milling cutter. The case provides IP65-class protection, even
including the external connectors. High protection class makes displays an excellent choice
for installations in damp and dirty surroundings.
A suspended display element inside the sturdy aluminium case guarantees superior resistance to
exterior effects like bumps, drops and knocks. The front surface of the screen is either shock
proofed by a tempered glass plate or safe behind the tough plastic of the touch screen.
The picture settings are easy to adjust via a five-button control panel on the bottom of the
display frame. The usability of CEF 8xs/10xs can be enhanced by twelve function keys, six
on each side of the TFT element.
Screen brightness can be adjusted both automatically and manually.
CEF 10xs is also available as a touch screen model, with the touch screen supplied by
industry leader ELO TouchSystems.
There are two thermal elements inside the display case. They operate automatically, switching
on when the inside temperature of the display falls below freezing and switching off when the
temperature rises back to safe operating levels.
As a safety feature against freezing damage when the temperature is below 0 C° the power
switch will first turn on the thermal elements and switch the display power on only after a
safe operating temperature has been reached. In temperatures close to -20 C° safe operating
temperature is reached in one minute.
Unconditional crisis power up method: The heating elements can be bypassed via keeping the
power switch pressed for 3.5 seconds. The display will then power up immediately, without the
warming up phase.
