CEF 4x is Control Express Finland's new rack-mountable industrial computer, which is easily tailored to to meet the unique needs of our customers. This versatility has not been achieved at the expense of reliability, quite the contrary. Based on inhouse research and design, the features of CEF 4x represent the cutting edge in reliability-enhancing technologies.

The hard disk is one of the most fragile components of the computer. It may be exposed to constant vibration and external shocks which can easily break it. The CEF 4x chassis includes three suspended hard disk trays protected by the most advanced hard disk suspension system available, namely CEF Damper 28. The system enables the hard disks to withstand shocks of up to 100 G without suffering damage. The independent monitoring unit of CEF 4x monitors the computer's operating temperatures and voltages, sending alerts if needed. As an "early warning system", it adds to the reliability of the computer. The EMC-tight computer chassis protects the CEF 4x components from external electromagnetic disturbances. At the same time, the chassis prevents harmful EMC-emissions from CEF 4x. There is a filter connected to the computer power supply, suppressing the disruptions the power supply emits to the electric network. These features make CEF 4x suitable for use in laboratories and telecommunications centres where delicate instruments are used. Dust is a common cause of problems for electrical equipment in industrial environments. CEF 4x comes supplied with an efficient cooling system, which overpressurizes the computer chassis with filtered air. The overpressure prevents dust pile-up from causing overheating problems. The filter of the system is easily replaceable without any tools. CEF 4x is easily tailored to our customers specifications. The 4u (7 inch) high chassis can accommodate not only the normal passive backplanes, but also any PC ATX motherboard and Sun Microsystem Ultrasparc-based mobos. The chassis has room for three 3.5" hard disks in suspended trays plus two 5.25" mass storage devices in externally reachable bays. The expansibility of CEf 4x is exceptional with up to six full-length slots available depending on the model of the main board.
