CEF WSx is a 2U rack-installable industrial PC especially designed for the most demanding military and industrial use. The computer is supplied with two removable hard disk cradles for 3.5" IDE-drives. These, in conjunction with our patented hard disk suspension system and a RAID adapter, make CEF WSx extremely fault-tolerant. The processor cooling system uses heat exchangers, removing the need for a fault-prone processor fan.

Dust and spill proof The aluminium chassis of CEF WSx is both dust and spill proof; even the external cable connections fulfill IP54-class requirements. Monitoring and diagnostics An independent, active monitoring unit enhances the reliability of CEF WSx. The monitoring unit measures temperatures, voltages, vibration, shocks and ripple. When required, it can adjust the computer's fans and heaters. The monitoring unit can also send an external alarm to the computer maintenance personnel when human intervention is needed. The alarm limits are easy to set and change, either with a serial port emulator such as Hyperterminal or by using a Windows-based CEF CEF WSx/SRx Diagnostics program. Expansion and future proofing CEF WSx has a passive backplane construction, meaning that in addition to expansion cards, the processor card is easily upgradeable simply by changing cards. The current version supports processors up to Pentium 4 2.53 GHz. Two removable hard disk cradles for 3.5" IDE-drives add to the expansion potential of CEF WSx. The case also includes slimline floppy and CD-ROM drives. Leading-edge suspension system The CEF WSx hard disks are able to withstand external shocks of up to 100 G, thanks to Control Express' patented hard disk suspension system, CEF Damper 28. The frequency range of CEF Damper 28 is extremely wide, giving the hard disks extensive protection against many different types of vibrations and shocks. Weather and temperature testing CEF WSx has been tested to conform to following weather and mechanical test standards.
